Lilly Oncology on Canvas

Lilly Oncology on Canvas is a biennial art competition that invites people diagnosed with any type of cancer, their families and friends, and healthcare providers to express, through art and in narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journey meaning.

Lilly Oncology on Canvas, an art exhibition honoring the journeys traveled by millions of people affected by cancer worldwide, will be on display at the Southeast Cancer Center and in the Women's Center First Floor Lobby from September 24- October 6, 2010. The exhibit will showcase selected pieces of art from the Oncology on Canvas competition. The artwork is a fusion of hope and healing and provides an opportunity to reflect on individual cancer journeys.

Lights of Hope is an annual tribute opportunity to honor and remember loved ones who have had or now have cancer. As a tribute gift keepsake, donors receive a stained glass angel. The Lights of Hope lighting ceremony and tribute reception is schedule for Monday, October 4, 2009 on the First Floor Lobby of Southeast Alabama Medical Center and specifically recognized those whose life had been touched by breast or prostate cancer. Lights of Hope includes a series of community events that benefit cancer services offered by Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funds raised during the initial year benefit the Mobile Regional Screening Unit and the MR Guided Breast Biopsy System in Cancer Services.

Champions of Hope is a Southeast Alabama Medical Center Foundation event that seeks to honor breast cancer survivors while highlighting the importance of early breast cancer detection and intervention.  Kelli Hall is the 2010 event chairperson, and as a breast cancer survivor, is a strong advocate of advancing healthcare options in our community.  It is her dream and the Foundation’s that one day every possible dimension of cancer care will be available in our community.

Also featured in the 2010 event, area dance studios and gospel singers will share the stage for a celebration of hope and healing. The exciting entertainment will be enjoyed throughout the morning for all participants. Mark your calendar and make plans to join us for an unforgetable morning filled with joy and the spirit of compassionate hearts.

Proceeds will be used, in part, to help underwrite mammograms for those who are uninsured or under-insured via the Southeast Alabama Regional Health Screening Services van that has the ability to provide this diagnostic test in the more rural communities surrounding Dothan. In addition, proceeds from this event will assist in helping to stage a future regional breast cancer symposium geared at delivering breast cancer education and quality of life improvement options.

Heart & Soul Gala

The Heart & Soul Gala is a black-tie optional event that features a champagne reception, live music and dancing and a silent and live auction. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Dothan Country Club. The third annual Heart & Soul Gala will benefit the Heart & Vascular Services expansion project.

Golf Invitational & Wellness Luncheon

The SAMC Foundation's 4rd Annual Golf Invitational is scheduled for Monday, April 4, 2010 at the Dothan Country Club Golf Course. A Wellness Seminar & Luncheon will be available for non-players.

Golfers will enjoy a Players’ Luncheon before the start of the afternoon’s events.  The golf outing will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm. All participants will receive goody bags, and lucky winners will receive prizes. The outing will wrap up with a Hole 19 Reception and awards ceremony.

Those interested in wellness issues and opportunities to improve their quality of life are invited to register for the Wellness Luncheon & Seminar with a featured speaker. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 am. and is expected to end at 1 p.m. 

Proceeds from the Golf Invitational & Wellness Seminar will benefit health and wellness programs and services offered to those served by Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
