400 Partners / $94,107 Humanity, Healthcare, Wellness & YOU
The SAMC Foundation Employee Campaign is an annual event that brings the SAMC family together in a unique way. It provides an avenue for leadership, staff and faculty to maximize their philanthropic efforts to expand healthcare options for the community.
“Those who give during the employee campaign underscore their commitment to SAMC’s mission to care for our community by highlighting their humanitarian spirit and support for SAMC’s standard of excellence,” said Valerie Barnes, Foundation executive director. “It is less about the size of the gift, and more about the power of our combined efforts. Every gift makes a difference in shaping the future of healthcare,” she added.
“Thank You To Everyone Who Made The 2012 Employee Campaign A “Red Hot” Success! Each year employees generously supported the SAMC Foundation through its Annual Employee Campaign and to date SAMC Employees have donated over
$436,000 to The Foundation for the Advancement of Healthcare and Wellness,” said Sara McCabe, SAMC Foundation Employee Campaign Liason.
The Foundation Employee Advisory Board (FEAB), a 16-member SAMC employee philanthropic group created in 2009, has provided the Foundation Board of Trustees and development staff with valuable insight into the healthcare needs of the community served by SAMC. “Not only has the FEAB served as an informed sounding board but its members work very hard to develop and reinforce relationships between the Foundation and employees while promoting a spirit of community caring and interdepartmental unity throughout the hospital,” explained Sara McCabe, Foundation donor relations specialist and FEAB liaison.
Each year the FEAB works closely with the Foundation staff to run an enjoyable and successful SAMC employee campaign. The 2012 campaign was recently conducted April 11-May 1 around the theme “Coming Together.” According to McCabe, the FEAB approved the theme because the group believes that ‘One person can always make a difference; coming together allows us to have an impact.’
While the official 2012 campaign closed May 1, Medical Center employees can become a Foundation partner at any time during the year. This year’s campaign wrap up celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. There will be a prize drawing at noon for parking spaces as well as ETO hours. In addition, employee partners will be able to participate in the 2nd Annual SAMC Foundation Chili Cook-off during the celebration.
A special thanks is extended to the FEAB members for their dedication to the Foundation and our mission to advance healthcare and wellness in the communities served by SAMC. The FEAB includes Heather Alford, advisory board chair; Sherry Blackburn; Cindy Clements; Joey Floyd; Scott Griffin; Karen Henderson; Lesia Hollis; Rick McGowan; Bruce McNeal; Starla Moore; Joyce Riley; Laurie Skipper, 2012 employee campaign chair; Lorenzo Suter and Jan Wynn.
