Our Mission
The Medical Center Foundation was created as a public charity in May 2006 to help raise funds and healthcare need awareness for Southeast Alabama Medical Center while advancing the humanitarian mission of the regions’ 420-bed medical facility and its affiliates.
Governed by a 20-member Board of Trustees, who serve without compensation, the Foundation invites partnerships among individuals, groups and businesses interested in ensuring quality medical care is always available to the communities served by Southeast Alabama Medical Center. The doors to the Foundation officially opened in March 2007 as part of the hospital’s 50th anniversary celebration.
The Foundation funds both present and future equipment, technology, facility expansion and program needs to meet the health and wellness demands of the growing regional community. We invite you to learn more about Southeast Alabama Medical Center and its services by visiting www.samc.org or calling 334-673-4150 to schedule a facility tour.
Our History
The Southeast Alabama Medical Center Foundation, Inc. was created as a public charity in May 2006 to help advance the mission of Southeast Alabama Medical Center, the regions’ premier community-owned, non-for-profit 420-bed healthcare referral center.
As a 501 (c) (3) public charity (not-for-profit organization), there are no owners or share holders and the trustees serve without financial compensation. The Foundation’s annual operating costs are underwritten by the Medical Center so that 100 percent of all donated gifts benefit the designated hospital program or health initiative. When donations are made during a special event, the net revenue earned by the enterprise is reinvested to fun enhancements to the physical plant, purchase state of the art equipment and fun the overall health care mission which includes care for those who are unable to pay for their medical care and services.
Currently governed by a 27-member voluntary Board of Trustees, the Foundation exists to cultivate relationships and establish philanthropic partnerships among individuals, groups and businesses interested in delivering quality medical care to the communities of Southeast Alabama, Northwest Florida and Southwest Georgia. The doors to the Foundation officially opened in March 2007 as part of the hospital’s 50th anniversary celebration.
The Foundation works to strengthen relationships between the Medical Center and the community while helping fund both present and future equipment, technology and program needs.
Through a spirit of generosity, Foundation partners – physicians, employees, volunteers, former patients and friends of Southeast Alabama Medical Center and its affiliates – can take an active humanitarian role in helping close the need gaps – and the dream gaps – for a healthier way of life in the communities we serve.
As part of Southeast Alabama Medical Center’s humanitarian role, all annual operating expenses are underwritten by the Medical Center so 100 percent of your gift will benefit the healthcare service or community wellness initiative you specify. Your tax deductible gift can include gifts of cash, stock, property and life insurance. Gifts can be designated for specific or general purpose use.
